Phone recovered as police continue search for American college student in Spain

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - Police have recovered the phone of an American college student who is missing in Spain.

James Paul “Jimmy” Gracey, 20, was visiting friends in Barcelona while on spring break.

Gracey, who is a student at the University of Alabama, was last seen by a friend at a club around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Gracey never made it back to his Airbnb.

Gracey, who is from Illinois, and was last seen wearing a white T‑shirt, dark pants and a gold chain with a rhinestone cross.

The University of Alabama said Gracey was on a personal trip and that staff have been in touch with his family to “offer support and assistance in any way possible.”
