Cause of death released in killing of 10-year-old girl; another child charged with murder
PIEDMONT, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) — A 10-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Alabama and another child is being charged with her murder, according to police.
Katheryn Aliceanna Bigbee was stabbed multiple times, Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said.
Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson said officers responded to Katheryn’s home on Friday just before 11 p.m.
Officers found Katheryn injured inside the home and treated her at the scene. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Johnson said another juvenile was taken into custody and is being charged with murder. That child’s age has not been released.
Johnson said the case remains under investigation and no further details will be given at this time.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Katheryn’s family.
“I couldn’t imagine coming home to some news like that, you know it would just break my heart,” Adrian Fitten, a local resident, said. “And I feel for the family that’s going through what they’re going through right now, and we’re praying for them.”
