BOSTON (WGGB/WSHM) - Massachusetts is rolling out new student loan relief for early educators.

Governor Maura Healey has announced about $1.8 million in loan repayment awards for 248 early education and care workers across the state. Under the Early Childhood Educator Loan Repayment Program, eligible educators can receive up to $7,500 dollars per year to pay down their student loans. With a focus on experienced staff and programs serving high-need families or areas with childcare shortages.

State leaders said the goal is to help educators stay in the field, build long-term careers, and keep early education and childcare available for working families.
