Firefighters rush to put out overnight house fire in Southampton

SOUTHMAPTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, crews with the Southampton Fire Department had to respond to a report of a house fire on County Road.

When firefighters got to the home, they had noticed smoke filling the inside of the building. Upon further investigation, crews managed to find a hot spot from within the walls of the house. After pulling the wall apart, they managed to discover a rim joist smoldering. The fire was quickly put out after discovery.

The cause of the fire was determined to be from a resident of the home using a torch to burn the garden beds earlier on Saturday. There was no injuries as a result from the incident.
