ATV rider rescued from Mount Tom Range

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - An injured ATV rider who was found deep in the woods Monday on the Mount Tom Range, has been rescued.
According to the Holyoke Fire Department, first responders were called to the scene at about 1 p.m. Labor Day.
This was in the area of Westfield Road, past Fini’s Farm Produce.
“With the assistance of the Western Mass Regional Technical Rescue Team, the whole fire department responded and rescued the ATV (rider) who had fallen off his 4-wheeler and was injured,” explained Captain Dave Rex with the Holyoke Fire Department.
We’re told the man was transported to the Trauma Center at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Rex explained to us that at first they thought he was behind Fini’s, but realized he was much deeper in the woods.
“We responded in and realized we need some extra hands, so the Western Mass Tech Rescue Team, they responded and provided additional equipment, and everyone came out safely,” noted Rex.

Details on the extent of injuries to the ATV rider weren’t immediately available.
