Springfield School Committee approves revised schedule after cyberattack

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The cyberattack forced Springfield Public Schools to close for 4 days, and with state law requiring 180 school days, a calendar update was necessary.

Last Thursday, the 2026 to 27 school year calendar went under revision, and the new calendar has been accepted by the school committee.

You can take a look at the changes to the schedule on your screen now. It affects winter break dates both in December and January.

Students will be in session a full day on December 18th and 21st, and a half day the 22nd. They’ll also come back on January 4th and 5th. You can find a link to the new schedule here.
