Host community agreement dispute between MGM Springfield and city to enter arbitration
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A legal dispute between MGM Springfield and the city is now headed to arbitration after a court ruling in the case.
In a statement, MGM Springfield’s President and COO Louis Theros said the company appreciates the decision to send the matter to the arbitration forum both sides agreed to, adding MGM has tried to engage with the city and said Springfield residents would be protected, and even see additional benefits, if the casino is sold.
Mayor Domenic Sarno responded that he’s directed city solicitor Steve Buoniconti to pursue every legal option to make sure MGM complies with the host community agreement, including promised renovations at 101 State Street, the number of table games and slot machines, and job levels at the casino.
