2 people displaced following Pittsfield house fire

PITTSFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Two people have been displaced after a house fire Sunday night in Pittsfield.

Fire officials told us that crews responded to South Onota Street around 9:30 p.m. and found flames visible from the first-floor window.

Two adults and their dog had all evacuated safely. While no injuries were reported, several pet birds were killed.

The house has been deemed uninhabitable, but fire officials said a quick response time from both the homeowners and first responders prevented further damage.

The two displaced are being helped by the Red Cross, while authorities investigate the cause of the fire.
