Agawam fire department issues warning to residents after surge in slip and falls on ice

AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - In the past 24 hours, the Agawam Fire Department says they have responded to multiple calls regarding residents slipping and falling on ice.

Residents are being urged to take extra precautions when using sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots.

To avoid potential falls, it is being encouraged to take smaller steps on slick surfaces, and wearing shoes with good traction to reduce your risk of slipping.

Residents are being reminded to keep all walkways salted and clear of any ice and snow.

The department also emphasizes the importance of checking on elderly neighbors and loved ones, as they are more vulnerable to falls in these conditions.
