West Springfield Police warning of counterfeit money

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - On Wednesday, West Springfield police officers were alerted to counterfeit $20 bills scattered on the ground on Elm Street between Harrison Avenue and Garden Street.

Officers recovered 162 bills, all of which had the same serial number.

One person has already been arrested and charged with trying to use a counterfeit bill at a nearby convenience store.

If you come across any of these counterfeit bills, which police said are “easily identifiable” because of the color and weight difference when compared to real currency, you’re asked to contact the West Springfield Police Department at (413) 263-3210 ext. 0
