MassDOT service plaza project brings new jobs and partnerships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and national service plaza operator Applegreen have announced their next steps to modernize and maintain highway service plazas.
The $750,000,000 plan targets 18 service plazas across the state.
Officials said that construction, headed by a Boston-based firm, will begin early next year with the project expected to support 750 new jobs over the three-year project.
Applegreen said they’re offering employment opportunities to all current workers regardless of sub-vendor. The company shared they are partnering with Rachael’s, a business out of Chicopee, who will be the leading provider of sandwiches to all service plaza locations in the state as well as its entire United States travel plaza business.
More details are scheduled to be released in the coming months.
