F-16 Thunderbird makes emergency landing at Westfield air base

WESTFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The 104th Fighter Wing jumped into action Thursday night when a U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds F-16 needed to make an emergency landing.

The unit explained that the aircraft experienced a malfunction as it was traveling from New York. Crews were able to bring the F-16 to a safe halt using an “approach end cable” and it was tugged to the guard ramp.

Officials said “This is why we are here, this is what we do.. We remain always ready and available for whoever needs us.”
