Over 100 new apartments to open near downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - More affordable housing is coming to Springfield.

Over 100 new homes will be open on State Street near downtown complete with modern cabinetry and flooring as well as energy-saving appliances, air conditioning, laundry facilities, and wheelchair accessibility.

The new apartment complexes are called “The Residences at the Vault” and “Merrick Park Apartments.” Residences will have 60 affordable “income restricted” units while Merrick Park has 62.

Apartments at the Residences will be offered in two lottery phases.

Between the two projects, more than $16 million in federal funding was awarded.
