Road work to take place in Springfield’s North End

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A traffic alert for those driving to work in Springfield Monday morning as drivers are being advised to avoid Armory Street.

Multiple detours will be in place beginning Monday morning at 8 a.m. and ending at 2:30 on Friday. No work will be done on Wednesday for Veteran’s Day.

It’s all in an effort to replace structurally deficient bridges across the city as well as enact improvements to the Armory, Genesee, Warwick Street area. Work is expected for most of the work week as long as the weather permits.
