AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Amherst’s Jones Library, which has been under renovations for the past year is receiving $50,000 in state funding.
The money is for the creation of gender-neutral restrooms on the garden level of the building, which the project developer says will likely be the most-used space in the library. The library will also hold a 200-person meeting room, a smaller meeting room, an art gallery, and the town’s civil war tablets.
The garden level will feature an 8-stall unisex bathroom with floor to ceiling privacy. Once work is done, each floor will have public restrooms. Before, they were only available on one level.
